How to Sync Itau Empresas (Business) to Google Sheets Automatically
To sync Itau Empresas (Itau's business account) to Google Sheets automatically, connect your PJ account via Open Finance Brasil in Manio and point it at a spreadsheet. Your business transactions start flowing into Sheets without opening the internet banking portal, without OFX exports, and without typing anything manually. The setup takes about 10 minutes.
The Export Challenge with Itau Empresas
Itau Empresas is the business account offered by Brazil's largest private bank. It is a traditional choice for small and medium businesses: checking account, corporate cards (Mastercard and Visa), business savings, and a full-featured internet banking portal. Many MEIs (individual micro-entrepreneurs) and service providers who already had a personal Itau account open their PJ account there for convenience.
But when it comes to getting financial data into a spreadsheet, the pain points are well known. Itau's internet banking allows OFX and CSV statement exports, but the practical experience is frustrating:
- Encoding issues: vendor names with Portuguese accented characters turn into garbled symbols in Google Sheets
- Inconsistent formats: the PJ checking account export uses one format, the corporate card export uses another
- Bureaucratic navigation: finding the export option in Itau's internet banking requires multiple clicks, and the available date range is limited
- Repetitive process: must be done weekly to keep the spreadsheet current, manual work that adds no value
For a one-time analysis, this is workable. For maintaining a live PJ cash flow spreadsheet, it is unsustainable. And paying R$70 to R$90 per month for a full ERP just for financial visibility is overkill for a small business. Want to know when an ERP is justified? Open Finance Brasil Works with Itau PJ Accounts
Open Finance Brasil is a Central Bank regulation that requires major banks to provide secure APIs for customer-authorised data sharing. This applies to PJ accounts in exactly the same way as personal accounts. Itau, as one of the largest participants in Brazil's financial system, has fully implemented these APIs, including for its business accounts.
The difference between Open Finance data and manual exports is significant. Through Open Finance, data arrives structured and standardised: consistent fields, correct character encoding, unique transaction IDs. No more CSV files with misaligned columns or corrupted accents.
The consent process happens on Itau's own servers (via the app or internet banking). You log in with your regular credentials and authorise the sharing. Your password is never seen by any third party. The consent is valid for up to 12 months and can be revoked at any time. Want to understand how Open Finance protects your data? How to Sync Itau Empresas to Google Sheets with Manio
Manio is an authorised Open Finance Brasil participant. It reads your Itau Empresas transactions through the official API and writes them directly to your Google Sheets spreadsheet.
Step 1: Create a Manio Account
Go to manio.app and sign up with email or a Google account. The Trial plan is free and includes 1 bank connection with daily sync and 50 syncs.
Step 2: Connect Itau Empresas via Open Finance
In the Manio dashboard, go to "Bank Connections" and search for Itau. Enter the company's CNPJ (or CPF, if the account is linked to your personal document). You will be redirected to Itau's official Open Finance consent screen, hosted on Itau's servers.
Log in with your regular credentials and choose which accounts to share:
- PJ checking account: Pix, TEDs, bill payments, debit purchases, fees
- Corporate card: individual purchases and instalments from the company's Itau cards
- Business savings: if applicable, deposits and withdrawals
This works for all Itau Empresas segments. No premium account is required for Open Finance.
Step 3: Add Google Sheets as a Destination
Go to "Destinations" and select Google Sheets. Authorise Manio to access your Google account through the official OAuth flow and select the spreadsheet that will receive the data.
Step 4: Map Your Accounts
Link each Itau Empresas account to a tab in your spreadsheet. Two approaches work well:
- Single tab: all accounts in one tab, distinguished by the Account column. Simpler and ideal if you have 1 to 2 products
- Separate tabs: one tab for checking, another for corporate card. Better if you want independent dashboards
Step 5: Run the First Sync
Trigger the initial sync. On the Pro plan (R$19.99/month), Manio imports all the history the bank makes available via Open Finance, typically around 12 months. On the Trial plan, the first sync covers up to 30 days. After that, new transactions are added automatically: Trial syncs once daily, Pro every 8 hours. No more opening internet banking every week, no OFX files, no CSV headaches.
What Appears in Your Spreadsheet
Each synced Itau Empresas transaction creates a new row:
- Date: transaction date, properly formatted (no encoding issues)
- Description: payer, vendor, or counterparty name, cleaned for readability
- Amount: in BRL, positive for inflows and negative for outflows
- Type: Pix, TED, debit, bill payment, corporate card, fee, internal transfer
- Account: identifies whether it came from PJ checking, business savings, or corporate card
- Transaction ID: unique identifier ensuring zero duplicates
All data arrives with correct character encoding. No garbled accents in your spreadsheet. This is one of the key advantages of Open Finance over manual exports from the internet banking portal.
PJ Financial Management in Google Sheets
With Itau Empresas data flowing automatically, the spreadsheet becomes a real management tool:
Monthly Cash Flow
Create a Summary tab with SUMIFS grouping inflows and outflows by month. Itau Empresas is a full-service bank, and many PJ customers have several products active simultaneously. In Sheets, use the Account column to separate flows and understand where money comes from and where it goes.
Corporate Card Instalment Analysis
Itau corporate cards are commonly used for instalment purchases (annual SaaS, equipment, travel). Through Open Finance, each instalment appears in its corresponding month. Build a formula that sums committed future instalments to see how much of the upcoming bills is already decided.
Simples Nacional Tax Reserve
If the business is on Simples Nacional, create a column that calculates the monthly tax provision based on the month's revenue. The official DAS calculation is done by your accountant in PGDAS-D, but the spreadsheet provision gives you early visibility.
Pro-labore and Partner Withdrawals
Filter pro-labore transactions. Track the monthly amount and accumulate the year-to-date total for income tax purposes. The spreadsheet serves as a parallel control to the official payslip.
Sharing with Your Accountant
Share the spreadsheet in read-only mode with your accountant. They gain visibility into the financial flow without needing access to the internet banking portal or any other system. Sheets complements (does not replace) the official accounting work.
Works with Other PJ Banks Too
If your business has accounts at other banks besides Itau Empresas, Manio connects them all and consolidates everything in the same spreadsheet. See also how to sync Nubank Empresas and Inter Empresas to Google Sheets.
For the full guide on connecting any PJ account to Sheets, see How to Connect Your Business Account to Google Sheets Automatically.
You can also mix PF and PJ accounts in the same Manio account, each pointing to a different spreadsheet or tab. Data is never mixed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Open Finance replace the OFX export from Itau's internet banking?
In practice, yes. Open Finance data is cleaner, with correct character encoding and a standardised format. You no longer need to access Itau's internet banking to manually export files. Manio handles everything automatically.
Do I need a CNPJ to connect Itau Empresas?
Yes. Itau Empresas is a PJ account linked to the company's CNPJ. When connecting, you enter the CNPJ. If you use a personal Itau account (PF) to receive payments as a MEI, that flow also works: just enter your CPF.
Does Itau charge for the Open Finance connection?
No. Data sharing via Open Finance is free, regulated by Brazil's Central Bank. Manio has a free Trial plan with 1 bank connection, daily sync, and 50 syncs. The Pro plan costs R$19.99/month, with sync every 8 hours, unlimited syncs, and up to 10 banks.
Is it safe? Does LGPD apply to PJ accounts?
The access is read-only. Nobody can move money through the integration. Your password is never shared. Open Finance is regulated by Brazil's Central Bank, and Manio treats all data under LGPD. You can revoke consent at any time from the Itau app or internet banking.
Do corporate card and business savings data come through?
Yes. During the consent step, you choose which accounts to share. Corporate card and business savings appear as separate accounts in the spreadsheet, identified by the Account column.
Can I use PF and PJ at the same time?
Yes. Connect your personal account (PF) and business account (PJ) in the same Manio account, each pointing to a different spreadsheet or tab. Each link is independent.
How much transaction history is available on the first sync?
On the Pro plan (R$19.99/month), Manio imports all the history the bank makes available via Open Finance, typically around 12 months. On the Trial plan, the first sync covers up to 30 days.
Does Manio replace my accountant?
No. Manio replaces the manual data import layer. NFS-e issuance, DAS calculation, DEFIS, pro-labore, and other tax obligations remain with your accountant. What Manio does is deliver bank data to your spreadsheet for financial visibility without needing an ERP.
